Gloaming Get the app

For couples who have been together a while

Decide in daylight.
Let the lamp go out.

A slow, private ritual for two. A sealed note each during the day, an invitation in the evening, and at night your phone becomes a low lamp, then goes dark.

Free while in early testing. For adults. No account needed.

Every couples app is the same app.

A deck of cards, a ladder of levels, a list of yes-or-no questions, all opened in bed at ten at night on a bright screen. You tap through the gentle cards, things warm up, the phone goes on the nightstand, and the new thing you meant to try never comes up.

For couples who have been together a long time, the hard part is rarely the doing. It is the starting: asking, saying "not tonight" without it landing as a rejection, admitting you are curious about something after years of not mentioning it. Gloaming is built around that moment.

How it works

Three moments a day, and none of them is a deck of cards.

  1. 1

    A note, in daylight

Once a day, each of you privately picks how you feel about tonight (Rest, Close, Warm me up, Curious or Wanting) and answers one question. It is sealed. Your partner only sees that it is written.

  2. 2

    A thought to carry

One shared prompt a day, the same on both phones. Something to think about now and say out loud tonight.

  3. 3

    An invitation, in the evening

When both notes are in, an envelope opens: what your notes add up to, never who wanted what. The gentler mood sets the night. Sometimes: you found something you both want to try.

  4. 4

    A lamp, at night

Put the phone on the nightstand. It becomes a low, warm light with one line you can read from the pillow. It moves on by itself, glows a little lower, and at the end it goes dark.

And one tap the next morning: how was it, and did the new thing happen? The next nights adapt.

Why it is different

It is built to be ignored

Most apps measure success by how long you look at them. Gloaming has done its job when the phone goes dark.

"Not tonight" is said in daylight

Rest is a whole answer, delivered gently in the afternoon, so nobody has to say it in bed.

"Warm me up" is a real yes

For many people desire arrives once things begin. Gloaming starts slow and treats that as an answer, not a maybe.

Discovery is slow on purpose

One question a day. When you have both said yes or maybe to the same thing, it turns up like news.

It remembers

Lines you keep come back, lines you turn down never do, and each kind of night opens up over weeks.

Nothing to perform

No scores, no dares, no forfeits, no audience. Skip anything. Hold the lamp to turn it off.

Private by design

Only what you both want is ever shown.

  • No accounts and no analytics. Everything lives on your phones.
  • Paired phones talk in code, encrypted with a key only those two phones hold.
  • Your partner never sees your answers, only things you both said yes or maybe to.
  • Switch off a whole category privately, and it never comes up. Change a yes to a no, and it disappears from both phones.
  • A passcode, a plain icon and a quiet name on your home screen.

Get the app

Gloaming lives on your home screen.

No app store, no download, no account. It installs from Safari in a few seconds, works offline, and shows only its name and a plain icon.

On iPhone
